“ La Ruta Moskitia made this enticing region accessible for us. We were able to reach remote communities full of hospitable people and at the same time experience the beautiful scenery and wildlife in the company of knowledgeable and patient guides.

The whole trip was a great opportunity to see such an untouched spot, but a major highlight was the journey down the Rio Plátano itself; the people, the birds, the noises, the dense forest and even a crocodile made it an unforgettable few hours.

Ultimately, it caps it off to know that the money we spent is going to the right places.”

“Thank you for sharing this piece of paradise with us.  Your attention to detail is appreciated and does not go unnoticed.  I was very impressed with the clean white sheets, mosquito nets and table cloths.

We arrived to find towels neatly folded, four glasses of water set out and a candlelit dinner.  It far exceeded our expectations!”

“I like the way you have created this place. Comfort enough, but not artificial. The cabanas are beautiful, wind passing through. But what is even better are the friendly, smiling people here in Belen.”

“There are some places in the world for which words are not sufficient to describe the feelings that are evoked while there…La Moskitia is one such place.

In other words and without a doubt, I have never been to a place quite as tranquil.  Thank you for everything!”

“I loved Las Marias, it seemed like a very healthy community, the people very real. All the boat rides, GORGEOUS. A few times I had to ask myself if I was really there. The tour made all these places and awesome people so easy to access, no stress at all, yet I still felt like we carried our own weight.  Thanks so much! I am soooo glad that I went.”

“We loved every minute of our trip, and it will forever be one the greatest highlights of our adventures in Central America.

It was a really smashing itinerary that you worked out for us – the whole programme flowed seamlessly. It was all very comfortably achievable with plenty of time to swim in rivers and creeks, which we really appreciated.

The accommodations were absolutely stunning - tastefully designed while still retaining their small community feel. The trip up the Rio Plátano had our eyes wide for the whole journey.  The pipante trip up to the petroglyphs was superb, as was the jungle walk the following day. All the guides were really lovely, and so accommodating.  It was wonderful to have taken part in such a positive project”.

“We all had a great time and this was a trip that we will not soon forget.  The people and guides in each town were extremely warm and hospitable.  I hope they continue to stay that way and preserve the beauty of their land and culture.  The food was excellent in every place, and although I rarely drink coffee, I had to every morning here it was that good.  The accommodations were extremely nice and well beyond what we were expecting.

I very much liked the fact that we were exposed to such different environments in each town.  Each place was unique in culture and landscape from the other and it was amazing to see such vast changes in such close proximity, though they felt worlds away.

The boats to and from were a nice start and finish to the trip, the Garifuna dancing was enjoyable, the beach in Raista is amazing to just walk or run down, traveling upstream through the Rio Plátano was pleasant helped by the great weather we had, hiking was definitely needed and appreciated and the guides were more then happy to lead us to another destination when we changed our minds and decided to go to a swimming hole instead, the croc tours were very enjoyable and we saw a good number of them.”

“Finally arriving to Belen after a long bus journey and a spectacular boat ride on the sea…but it was worth it! Had a nice dinner and went to bed, and what a pleasure to wake up in this beautiful place. Too bad we had to leave after a day, we wanted to stay longer! Thank you Mario and Mom!
